Eyecare

Eyecare is one of the sectors in healthcare in many African countries that is still underserved. Good vision is very indispensable when carrying out our daily duties.
Uncorrected refractive errors in especially children, whether myopia of hyperopia, with or without astigmatism, is often neglected while it is known to be one of the underlying reasons for poor school performance by school children.
With this in mind, we want to contribute to the eyecare sector and reach many communities that are still underserved.

partnerships

Our Footprints Foundation's core belief is that we can only achieve the change we desire when we work together. That is why we put a lot of effort in creating partnerships with different institutions that can work together with us in achieving our mission.
We currently have a partnership with Lusaka Eye Hospital in Zambia. Together with the hospital we serve the communities that need eyecare the most. We have also partnered up with Urban Innovations to help us with project implementation, evaluation and monitoring.
In the Netherlands we have partnered with Buffing Optiek and Bouman Optiek. Through them we are able to provide the best eyecare solutions to the communities we serve.

DONATIONS

While a pair of glasses is basic to many today, to some communities, this is an item they cannot afford. In August 2021, we were able to provide Lusaka Eye Hospital with a donation of frames and glasses. We thank our partner clinics Buffing Optiek and Bouman Optiek that donated these items.
We also thank BBig Design for their donation of children's frames.
These items are being used by Lusaka Eye Hospital in serving their low income patients.

outreach

Rural areas are the most underserved communities in the eyecare sector. There are not many eyecare providers in rural arears and those present are often very far from some communities.
A couple of times a year the Lusaka Eye Hospital visits different communities to perform eyecare checks and where necessary they perform surgical operations.
Our Footprints Foundation will join Lusaka Eye Hospital in outreach programs.
We will take the role of providing the patients who are visually impaired with eye exams and correction if needed.

Equipment

A lot of eyecare providers that also serve people with less resources have very often to do their job manually making it difficult for them to serve a lot of people.
We want to be able to be of service to these hospitals and clinics and help them in procuring materials and equipment that will in turn help them serve communities.

Manpower

We are always looking for professionals in eyecare that can help us, Opticians, Optometrists, Optamologists and other eyecare practitioners.
These professionals can be abroad or in our operating country. Any help that we can get in providing eyecare services makes our reach even greater.
